Types ‘Momentum’ into Netflix Search Bar

There exists an urban legend among my friend group that one of us, when advised to watch the critically-acclaimed movie Memento, instead typed ‘Momentum’ into the Netflix search bar and spent the next 1 hr. 40 min. of her life on a 28% Rotten Tomato film.

I must write this blog for one reason and one reason only: it legitimately allows me a creative space to use the phrase “spontaneous combustion”.

Kai asked to join me for another Life in Colour movie-evening. Last time we watched Pan’s Labyrinth. This time we watched Let the Right One In (2008). So what I’m telling you is we really understand romance.

Our second movie is now in the books. And it turns out I get way too emotionally invested in Italian Neorealism. It was all very sad and very dark and very Italian. If you're looking for a more happy-go-lucky story about a man in search of his bicycle, I suggest Pee-wee Herman's Big Adventure instead.

You’re reading “Life in Colour”. One woman’s blog challenge to watch the 100 greatest films of all time.

Chalk it up. Wolf and I have completed our first movie of the challenge (well, technicalities aside. We’ll get in to that later). Do I look like a new woman? Does he?

How did I decide on the movies that made my cut? I’m so glad you asked…

Making the list wasn’t rocket science. It was worse. Can I get like a PhD or something for this?

“Babe, I’m embarking on a challenge”, I told my boyfriend as I proceeded to e-mail him an Excel file that could only indicate mischief.

Friends, welcome to my mission:

I’m embarking on a journey. One could expect it to be filled with laughs, stress, maybe even some tears and lots of microwavable popcorn. A self-invoked challenge to watch the 100 Best Movies of All Time.

Let me clue you in on how the idea started cause I’m no movie aficionado.
